At Maude Diesel Service, we recently carried out an engine swap on an Iveco Eurocargo that had been towed in from a Iveco dealership. After their team was unable to pinpoint the issue, the vehicle was brought to us for further investigation—and our mechanics quickly got to the bottom of it.
Diagnosis: Severe Overheating Damage
Upon arrival, our team performed a full diagnostic assessment and quickly identified signs of extreme overheating. We removed the sump and discovered that all six pistons had grabbed the liners, indicating major internal engine damage and confirming the root cause of the failure.
With repair no longer a viable option, we priced up all routes forward and found the most cost-effective and time-efficient solution was a full replacement engine.
The Swap: Direct Engine Replacement
We sourced a genuine replacement Iveco engine compatible with the Eurocargo platform, allowing for a direct bolt-in swap with no fabrication required. The swap process included:
